Gainsborough Bath Spa to open July 1

The UK’s Gainsborough Bath Spa will open in July. The highly anticipated property, originally scheduled to open in the spring of 2014, will now open its doors on July 1.

Stretching across three Grade II listed Georgian buildings, the oldest dating back to 1824, the 99-room Bath hotel is the first in the UK for the Malaysia-based YTL Hotels group.

Spanning two floors, the 1,300sq m Spa Village Bath will feature three pools with the thermal water for which Bath is famous.

Other features at the spa will include sauna and steam room facilities, an ice alcove and relaxation rooms. Baths’ thermal waters will also be incorporated into treatments at the spa, in the form of Aquatic Body Therapies.

The Spa Village Bath Aquasana treatment comprises tai chi and stretching, while the Freedom session features therapist-led movement and stretching in the thermal waters.

Other treatments on the spa menu include facials, massages and wraps. The brands used at the spa will be Kerstin Florian and organic skincare lines Amala and Neal’s Yard Remedies.

Hotel food and beverage options range from the Johann Lafer at The Gainsborough and The Canvas Room restaurants to The Gainsborough Bar. Meeting and events facilities include conference and banqueting rooms.
