Mövenpick Hotel Kochi to open by the end of the year

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has announced plans for its second property in India, the Mövenpick Hotel Kochi, at the end of the year. The 167-room hotel will feature six dining outlets, including a sky bar, a pub and a restaurant serving a blend of Asian cuisines.

The hotel will also have a spa and wellness area, with a spa set to span several floors and incorporate a treatment area, a yoga studio, a hammam, reflexology chambers, a salon and a whirlpool. The area will also house a swimming pool and a fitness centre.

Business amenities at the hotel will range from an executive club lounge and a banqueting hall with space for 500 people, to a series of meeting rooms. Andreas Mattmüller, chief operating officer of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts for the Middle East and Asia, said of the opening: "We’re keen to continue expanding our existing portfolio in India by including additional key cities.”

The announcement of the Mövenpick Hotel Kochi follows the opening of the Swiss hotel group’s first property in India, the Mövenpick Hotel Bangalore, in 2011. Earlier this year, the company announced plans for another Indian property, the 124-room Mövenpick Hotel Dharamshala Resort & Spa, scheduled for completion in 2015.
