Six Senses Hotels, Resorts and Spas has announced plans to open its first European resort, in Portugal in the spring of 2015. The 71-room and suite Six Senses Douro Valley will feature a 2,200sq m spa, among other facilities.

The 10-treatment room spa will include a heated outdoor pool with a bar, a heated indoor pool with water jets and a gym. Treatments and services offered at the spa will include treatments inspired by the wine-making Douro Valley and the Six Senses yoga programme offering.

The spa will also host the Six Senses visiting practitioner programme, which sees 100 healers and other wellness experts and practitioners from around the world visit the hotel group’s different international properties.

Other facilities at the hotel, which will be the 12th Six Senses property globally, will include two restaurants and a library.
