Beautiful Minds 2019 – the beauty initiative raising money for mental health charities

A new initiative is bringing the beauty industry together to help raise money for mental health charity MIND.
The Beautiful Minds 2019 event, which is taking place from September 1–15, will see nail techs, beauty therapists, make-up artists and hairdressers from across the country host a series of fundraising activities to help raise money for the charity.
This event couldn’t happen at a more poignant time as the industry becomes more aware of the common mental health issues that can have an impact on clients and therapists wellbeing.
“Mental health is a very important subject as before I began working within this amazing industry I had come very close to ending my own life,” said Chris Kitchen, founder of Beautiful Minds 2019 and marketing expert at hair and beauty booking system software company, Book In Beautiful.
“With the support of multiple mental health charities and therapists I was able to take control of the direction of my future. I’m grateful it lead me to work with some amazing individuals within the beauty industry.”
Industry support
The two-week fundraising event is being supported by Georgie Smedley and the team at Nail Harmony UK, which distributes Gelish and manufactures All That Jazz, and famous nail tech Kirsty Meakin.
A charity auction will also take place at The Royal Hotel in Clacton-on-Sea on September 15, with prizes up for grabs including:
- One-to-one bespoke training with Kirsty Meakin and the chance to have your nails done by the tech as part of one of her YouTube tutorials
- A Kupa new Mani Passport Pro E-File customised by award-winning tech Hazel Dixon with Swarovski Crystals
- Training from the likes of popular techs Charli Jepson, Hazel Dixon and PB's Therapist of the Year 2018 Katie Barnes
- £1,000s of products and services.
More than 40 beauty therapists signed up within the first 72 hours of Beautiful Minds 2019 being announced and there’s lots of ways you can take part and donate.
Kitchen added: “The initial response has been amazing and if awareness around this project gains momentum then we could make a truly beautiful impact and raise an amazing amount of money for such an incredible charity that’s so close to my heart.”
You can book your seat at the charity auction on September 15 – general tickets are £50 including champagne and canapés, while VIP tickets are £100, which include a meal before the main event and a goody bag full of products.
