Dawn Stakounis to raise £22,000 for children’s cancer in epic bike ride

Beauty Industry veteran, Dawn Stakounis lost her son Christopher to an inoperable brain tumour at the age of six - he would have been 40 last year.
Now retired from a busy beauty career which included a long stint as managing director at The Beauty Developments Group which looked after brands such as Hive Beauty, Stakounis is dedicated to raising money for the charity Children with Cancer UK.
Over 21 days starting from 12th May 2023, Stakounis and sister Sharon will be puffing and panting 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John o’ Groats.
“Since 2015, you've helped us raise 10s of thousands of pounds for charity,” said Stakounis. “While we’re both young at heart, the aches and pains are catching up with us, so this will be our last major fundraising adventure. And we want to go out with a bang…”
The sisters are hoping to raise £22,000 for Children with Cancer UK in memory of Christopher.
Heartbreakingly, Christopher’s story isn’t unique. Every year, 1,800 children are diagnosed with cancer and 240 of those don’t recover. That’s 1,800 families whose lives are turned completely upside down, and 240 families whose worlds will never be the same again.
