Euromonitor reveals MENA beauty trends
Prospects for the beauty industry in the Middle East and North Africa vary considerably between countries, with the sector most buoyant in affluent United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, according to new data from Euromonitor International.
Sales of beauty and personal care products in Saudi Arabia are forecast to rise by 6% by 2017, driven by a growing focus on fashion and celebrities as a result of increased access to the internet. In the UAE, sales of premium cosmetics are expected to be up 6.7% by the end of 2013, totalling £724,000 (US$1.1m).
The findings were revealed in Euromonitor’s latest e-book, Beauty Industry Trends in the Middle East and North Africa, published in May. The research also predicts that consumer demand will remain comparatively week in
Egypt, in the wake of the unstable financial and political situation in the country following the 2011 revolution.
