European Non-Surgical Standards in final voting phase
The British Standards Institution has issued an update on the European Non-Surgical Standards. The standard has been in the drafting stage for several years now, but Mike Regan, chair to the BSI CH403 committee responsible for the standard, said it has now reached the final voting phase within the European Committee for Standardisation.
If the vote passes, the standard is expected to be published by Q3 2016 (at some point in the period from July to September). UK clinical experts and patient representatives have been meeting and debating on the draft, the full title of which is as follows: FprEN 16844 - Aesthetic medicine services - Non-surgical medical procedures.
If published, it would follow on from the Surgical Standard, EN 16372 – Aesthetic surgery services, which was published in January 2015. This was the result of collaboration with many groups and associations in the aesthetics sector.
