Individually personalised skincare to drive market growth
Personalised skincare will have a heavy influence on the future of the beauty market, with clients being offered the chance to purchase individually developed skincare products, according to analyst Canadean.
The market research company found in a survey that 45% of UK adults were interested in skincare developed in a laboratory for their individual needs. Of those, 54% said they would happily provide blood, skin or hair samples to be tested in order to develop tailor-made skincare, while 52% said they would like to visit a dermatologist for a skin consultation.
Russian brand IC Lab offers consumers individually made skincare; customers visit the brand’s lab to have their skin tested, and collect their product a few weeks later. The brand is charging around £50 for a 15ml eye cream. Canadean anticipates that this trend will be seen in the UK market soon.
Canadean analyst Veronika Zhupanova said, “Over 22% of skincare consumption by volume globally is driven by individualism, and with the development of new technologies, manufacturers have opportunities to take it to a whole new level.”
