Lefay Resorts to open second Italian property next year
Italy’s Lefay Resorts has announced that work on a second property, scheduled to open in the summer of 2019, has begun.
The new property, Lefay Resort & Spa Dolomiti, will be located in Pinzolo in the Italian Dolomite region, a UNESCO world Heritage site. Facilities at the resort, situated in an area popular for skiing, will feature 84 suites, two restaurants, a lounge, several bars, and ski and bike rooms.
There will also be a 5,000sq m Lefay Spa, with features ranging from several pools and a fitness area, to saunas and relaxation space. The resort will also include 25 Wellness Residences, the first of its kind for the brand.
The residences, which will start from 100sq m, will have direct access to the spa and wellness area, and to the two restaurants. Liliana Leali, chief executive of Lefay Resorts, said:
“With Lefay Resort & Spa Dolomiti, the brand strengthens its identity, characterised by the reinterpretation of the concept of luxury and a holistic wellbeing philosophy. We are very excited about this opening.”
In keeping with Lefay’s focus on sustainability and the environment, the resort will be designed to blend into the surrounding area.
Building materials found locally will also be used in the construction, including wood and stone. The property’s energy will come from renewable energy sources.
As with the existing, award-winning Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda, part of the remit for the new Dolomite property will be to neutralise its own CO2 emissions.
The privately owned Lefay Resorts, set up in 2006, is already planning a third Italian property in Tuscany in the future, as well as an expansion into Central Europe
