Macdonald announces refurbishment of Craxton Wood spa
Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel in Chester is set to invest £1.4million into its spa and wellness facilities over the coming three months, as part of a £2m investment from parent company Macdonald Hotels and Resorts in to the group’s wellness offering.
Set to relaunch in June, the Craxton Wood Hotel’s Vital Health and Wellbeing Club will see a refurbished pool with poolside sauna and steam room, plus 12 treatment rooms. Its extensive thermal suite will include an aroma steam room, rock sauna, ice foundation, rasul mud therapy room, salt infusion room and relaxation lounges.
The group’s managing director for leisure and spa Jeanette Jones said since the refurbishment of the Inchyra Hotel & Spa (pictured) in 2012, she has seen a huge increase in demand for health and wellbeing facilities.
Elsewhere Macdonald is investing £240,000 into refitting spa changing facilities at two of its hotels. It is also pushing £450,000 into upgrading gym equipment at eight of its Vital Health and Wellbeing Clubs, including the Bath Spa, Alveston Manor and Berystede sites.
