Mark Sands promoted to vice president of wellness at Six Senses

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas appointed Mark Sands as vice president of wellness. Since joining the group in 2011 as area spa director, Sands has helped launch several of the brand’s wellness initiatives, as well as leading the spa operations.

In his new role, Sands will be accelerating wellness innovation and creation within the company, as well as overseeing wellness content for the business.

He has also worked with the technical services team on various areas of spa development and most recently helped to launch Mission Wellness, the group’s initiative for staff wellbeing, which promotes a supportive workplace culture.

Prior to joining the Six Senses group, Sands worked for Ananda in the Himalayas, Northern India, for six years, where he experienced a whole host of alternative therapies and holistic medicine, including Ayurveda, traditional Hatha yoga and the philosophy of Vedanta, an ancient scripture.

Six Senses manages 18 hotels and resorts and 30 spas in 21 countries, including properties in Costa Rica and Iceland, and the group has also signed a further 22 properties into the development pipeline, including its first UK hotel and spa in London, which is due to open in 2023
