New Babtac chair hopes to increase number of men in the industry

Male waxing specialist Jason Phillips will take over as chair of Babtac and Cibtac in January for two years. Phillips is the current vice chair of the association, and takes over from Carolyne Cross, who has been chair since January 2013.

Phillips, who trained in beauty in 2008 and specialises in intimate male waxing, said he hopes to encourage more men into the beauty industry, as well as continue Cross’s work of driving standards forward.

He said, “I want to show men that this industry is a fascinating and rewarding career choice and being involved with the UK’s longest established professional association for beauty therapists is a great opportunity to achieve this.”

The new vice chair taking over from Phillips is Lesley Blair, who has been a Cibtac examiner for 17 years and is also involved with the Cosmetic Interventions Expert Group for Scotland, driving for regulation of non-surgical cosmetic interventions.

Cross will move into the position of Immediate Past Chair, and has said she is proud of what Babtac has achieved in the two years that she has been at the helm. “It has been an emotional rollercoaster; there is so much passion, enthusiasm and professionalism in this industry and we have worked hard to promote and protect that,” she said.
