New spa brings German aufguss ceremonies to Yorkshire
A new spa has opened in Yorkshire that offers German aufguss ceremonies.
Wellness at Alpamare opened on Saturday, March 16 in Scarborough with extensive thermal facilities and a blend of ancient spa traditions from across the globe.
At over 10,700sq ft, the spa features a clay sauna, Finnish sauna with panoramic views over Scarborough’s North Bay, ice and aroma showers and a foot reflexology bath.
Aufguss ceremonies are timetabled in the clay sauna, with 12 different sessions ranging from Wood’s Infusion, with antiseptic Himalayan cedar, to Rockin’ Sauna, a wild mint infusion with ice to the backdrop of rock music.
There is also a hay bath – a room containing loungers and installations of hay harvested from North Yorkshire, designed for guests to relax among the warm, comforting aroma.
Guests can experience several rituals in the hammam, including a herbal steam bath, soap steam bath and self-applied rhassoul treatment.
An outdoor iodine infinity pool completes the facilities, while the treatment menu features Elemis facials and massages.
Wellness at Alpamare has created three guided spa journeys depending on what the guest wishes to get out of their visit – detox, hammam relax or sauna vitality.
The spa in located on the site of the Alpamare family water park.
