Phorest hosts Uplift event to inspire salon owners

On Monday February 8, Phorest’s Uplift virtual event reached over 600 salon and spa owners in the UK and Ireland, and provided a morning of inspirational and motivational education.

Hosted by Phorest’s chief executive Ronan Perceval and the Phorest Software team, the event offered attendees practical advice and tips on running a salon business, team motivation and online marketing to help them boost their business, both during and after lockdown.

It also covered advice on how Phorest’s software can help boost business, including an insight into the feature reveal of the Staff Performance tool, focusing on resilience, motivation and team effort.

Phorest’s head of education, Niamh Greaney, spoke about how you can get your personalised report on your business’ Online Health Score with Phorest Software, and the actions you can take to generate more business. This included building your salon’s online and social presence to generate brand awareness.

The event also showcased the successes of salon owners during lockdown, in particular those how had benefited from vouchers schemes to generate income from clients during lockdown. In a shift to supporting local businesses, Phorest found that many clients did not redeem their purchased vouchers and instead wanted to support their local salon. This chimes with Phorest’s research which found that 73% of consumers want to shop local to support small and medium sized businesses.

Among the panel speakers was Ashleigh Hodges, director of artist collective Hair Dot Com, Davines ambassador and Chancellor of the British Fellowship of Hairdressing, who hosted a wellness session for salon owners looking to improve their work-life balance once salons re-open. The session also included a meditation session.

Jason Fox, star of SAS: Who Dares Wins, was a special guest, speaking about how his time as a special forces soldier helped him develop resilience in stressful situations, and passed on advice on how salon owners can become more resilient in these difficult times.
