Bold brows and skinimalism among Pinterest’s hot beauty trends for 2021
Skinimalism, bold brows and ritual baths are set to be big in the beauty and spa world next year, according to “Pinterest Predicts: The Soon-to-be-Trending Report for 2021”.
When it comes to beauty, 2021 is believed to be the year of skinimalism, with clients letting their natural skin texture shine through. This “effortlessly chic” trend will signal the end of the caked-on make-up look, says the platform. Pins for “glowing skin – how to get naturally” and “face yoga exercises” have both soared +4x, while searches for “natural everyday make-up” have increased 180%, found the report.
Meanwhile, defiant brows will also take centre stage, with the platform stating, “nothing is too out-of-the-brow this year”. Searches for “goth eyebrows” (+120%), “ombré powder brows” (+50%) and “colourful eyebrows” (+35%) have all rocketed, while it looks like “bleached eyebrows” are about to make a big comeback, with a +160% surge in searches.
When it comes to wellbeing, bathing rituals are set to be big business and spas should use this information to their advantage. Pinterest predicts that people will be carving out extra time for “special soaking experiences” this year, with searches for “spiritual cleansing bath” up +180% and “full moon bath ritual” up +90%, the report found.
The power of manifestation is also predicted to be huge, “as pinners get in touch with their magical side, alternative spiritual methods will enter the mainstream”. Interest in protection crystals has risen +100%, manifestation techniques +105% and visualising your highest self +55%, states the report.
The social media platform’s report is constructed from data of its global search volumes, analysing figures between August 2019–July 2020, to figure out what people are searching and pinning.
