Professional Beauty tried: new products from jane iredale (iiaa)

We got our hands on the new launches from jane iredale, coming to you in Dublin on 25-26 September at IIAA’s stand (E14).

Name of product:  Retractable Brow Pencil and Smooth Affair for Eyes

Type of products:  Eye Brow Pencil and Eye Shadow Primer

Product Purpose:  The new Retractable Brow Pencils help fill in and define brows using an ultra-fine precision tip. The long-wearing formula is waterproof and stays put without smudging. The pencils are available in three medium-coverage shades to blend with natural hair colouring. 

The brand is also unveiling its new Smooth Affair for eyes lid primers – a versatile cream-to-powder formula that can be worn as an eye shadow or a primer. It prepares lids so make-up goes on easier and lasts longer, keeping eyes looking fresh all day, and is available in six versatile shades.

Application process:

The retractable nature of the  pencil means that it is easy to apply the product, without using too much. It provides medium coverage and is available in 3 colours, perfect to match any eyebrow colour.

The primer was creamy and soft, therefore easy to apply. It also felt very light and weightless despite being of a creamy texture. We tried the primer in colour ‘Petal’, a lovely pale pink colour with a hint of shimmer. A great way to add a little colour to your eyes!

Post-product application: 

Throughout the day I could see that the eyebrow pencil did not move and the eyebrow brush left my eyebrows shaped the way I wanted, even after 12 hours!

The eye primer stayed put and added a lovely colour to my eyes throughout the working day. I also applied it the next day with eyeshadow on top, which stayed put well and exaggerated the pigmentation of my chosen colour.

Overall product review: 

The packaging is very aesthetically pleasing, with a classy gold shade used for both products – all of which would look great on display in a salon or in your make-up set! Both products are very easy to apply, and can be built up if necessary. The colour range available means you will find the perfect shade to suit you!
