What is the background of the company and what type of products do you offer?

I first brought Fake Bake from the US to the UK in 2001 and built the company initially from my bedroom.

The success of the brand has led to the production of over 35 retail and professional self-tan products ranging from oil free moisturisers to top of the range spray tan liquids ensuring that Fake Bake have the solution to your perfect tan.

What is your most popular product and what do you think makes it popular?

The current best seller is our 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid which is a favourite with celebrities and a regular in the columns of the top magazines. 
The rapid development of this revolutionary express self-tan is a key to the success of this product as it can be washed off after only 1 hour for a golden glow or up to 3 hours for a deeper tan, with specialist accelerators being triggered following water contact, which further enhance the development process.  This is the tan of choice when time isn’t an option and no overnight development means your laundry will love it too.

What makes your products special over the competition?

The Fake Bake Self-Tanning range is like no other, featuring naturally derived ingredients with unique performance enhancers and most importantly all products are free from artificial preservatives and parabens.
The products are pleasantly fragranced and contain a unique triple tan formula, DHA, Erythulose & DMI,  which when combined develop the most natural looking, holiday tan which lasts longer and is less prone to streaking.
Fake Bake also offer a number of products to suit all skin tones and types which contain a variety of skin care benefits including anti-ageing, anti-cellulite and anti-oxidants.

How cost effective are your products when introducing them into a salon?

When Fake Bake is introduced into a salon, both the realistic trade prices and award-winning solutions facilitate the opportunity to generate a substantial profit margin. 
All Fake Bake retail products have a trade price that is almost half their retail value allowing the potential for significant return. When stocking these products in a salon, they receive maximum support from the in-store marketing materials provided by Fake Bake as well as the consistent coverage and recommendations in the press.

The spray tan liquids also provide a cost effective solution to any salon due to the quantity of applications within each bottle.  One bottle, of any of the five available Fake Bake liquids, should allow for up to 14 spray tan applications (depending on spray technique etc) ensuring generous return. Do you provide any extra services, advice or training programmes for professionals who use your products in their salons?

Fake Bake are always on hand to ensure you are making the most of your business with our customer services team, expert trainers and mobile therapist specialists.
We also have three training schools around the UK which offer courses in both self-tan and spray tan applications, as well as various independent training schools.   Our friendly customer services team are available throughout the week to help answer your questions, place orders, ask for advice, book training or even just phone up for a chat.
If you are a mobile therapist we have Fake Bake at Home which is a strong supportive structure which is set in place to ensure that though you work for yourself, you are not alone.

What tips would you give salon owners looking to introduce a new line into their salon?

When introducing new lines into your salon it is vital to ensure your staff have gained a substantial amount of knowledge and experience of the products. Through the relevant training employees will be aware of the key selling points of the products which will in turn lead to an increase in sales.
