Six Senses to open first US hotel
Six Senses is set to open its first hotel in New York, the global hospitality group has announced.
The hotel, Six Senses New York, will be located by the popular High Line tourist attraction on Manhattan’s West Side, close to the Hudson River.
Scheduled to open in 2019, the hotel will be the first US property for Six Senses.
It will be housed in a skyscraper between 17th and 18th street in the Chelsea neighbourhood.
The hotel will be part of a mixed-used development called The Eleventh, developed by HFZ Capital Group. The Eleventh will span two skyscrapers and also incorporate apartments and retail outlets.
Six Senses New York will feature 137 rooms over 10 floors and will incorporate a Six Senses Spa and two restaurants serving healthy cuisine with locally-sourced ingredients.
There are also plans to incorporate a private members’ club and meeting space into the hotel. Ziel Feldman, chairman and founder of HFZ Capital Group, said:
“We are setting a new precedent for architecture, design and lifestyle in downtown Manhattan, in a world-class location. Six Senses will bring something completely unique to New York City.
"As a company we share in Six Senses' commitment to a forward-thinking, environmentally-conscious mentality that makes no compromise on quality.”
