Spafinder Wellness announces 2013 Readers' Choice Awards winners

Thailand’s Chiva-Som resort, the Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat in Australia, the One & Only Cape Town and Rancho La Puerta in Mexico are among the winners of the 2013 Spafinder Wellness 365 Readers’ Choice Awards, announced today.

The hotels and resorts took home four of the seven Crystal Awards – awarding the best spas and wellness resorts on each of the seven continents – being named the best in Asia, Australia, Africa and America respectively. 
 
The awards also honour the leading spas and resorts in 44 countries and regions around the world, with the 2013 Country Award winners including the Four Seasons Hotel, George V Paris in France, Ananda in the Himalayas in India, ESPA Life at Corinthia in the UK, The Farm at San Benito in the Philippines, Como Shambhala Estate in Indonesia and Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Germany. 
 
Meanwhile, the seven category awards names the top spas, resorts and fitness, yoga and nutrition centres in categories ranging from Favourite Spa by Lifestyle Type, Favourite Spa by Special Interest and Favourite Spa by Activity Type to Best Spa by Spa Type and favourite centres for fitness programmes, yoga programmes and nutrition programmes.  
 
Winners in these categories, comprising a total of 26 classifications, include California’s Cal-a-Vie Health Spa, named one of the best for weddings; Canyon Ranch in Arizona, a favourite for weight loss; Iceland’s geothermal spa Blue Lagoon, among the top ten for mineral and thermal springs; Thailand’s Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary and Holistic Spa Resort, named one of the world’s top ten eco spas; Miraval resort and spa in Arizona, among the favourite five spas for yoga and; the Golden Door spa in California, one of the five favourite spas for fitness.  
 
2013 marks the first year that yoga, fitness and nutrition have been included as categories in the Readers’ Choice Awards, reflecting the industry-wide move towards an increased focus on overall wellbeing. Celebrity trainer Tracey Anderson received the Visionary Award.
