Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced the first W Hotels property in China’s Shenyang province. Scheduled to open in 2019, the W Shenyang will feature 280 rooms, including 30 suites. 

The hotel will also house a spa, a fitness centre, a heated indoor swimming pool, and 2,415sq m of meeting and events space, among other amenities. The four food and beverage outlets at the property will include a Chinese restaurant and the Living Room bar. 

Franck Huang, vice president of acquisition and development for greater China at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, said: "With its growing economy and position as a trade hub for northeast China, Shenyang provides an ideal foothold for Starwood's expanding pipeline."

W Hotels is on course to open 12 new properties across the Asia Pacific region by 2019, with more than half to be located in China – including in Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou and Chengdu.
