Trend watch: beauty products using ethical food labels
A growing number of ethical and allergy-related food labels are making their way onto beauty products as consumers demand the same level of safety and traceability.
Research by Organic Monitor discovered that more than 10% of organic beauty products in the US are now certified to food standards, equating to a market value of more than $7 million (£4.9m), with Non-GMO (genetically modified organism) Project Verified the fastest-growing label on US products.
The report also found that beauty brands are starting to adopt gluten-free labels due to the rising number of food ingredients making their way into personal care products.
