Two new beauty salon docuseries set to hit UK screens

Two new TV programmes focused on salon life are set to hit UK screens.

Following past successes of programmes that explore the inner workings of UK beauty businesses, such as Spa Wars which aired in 2017, E4’s The Super Salon and BBC3’s Beauty Blowout will each delve into life inside a high-street salon.

Produced by Frieda TV, The Super Salon will be a four-part documentary series set in as yet unnamed large Sheffield salon that employs over 50 beauty therapists, hair stylists and barbers.

“We’re excited to bring this extraordinary salon and staff to a national audience with all the laughs, gossip and drama that comes with them”, said Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor for Formats Simone Haywood.

Meanwhile BBC3’s Beauty Blowout: The Races will follow the staff and clients of a Liverpool salon in the run up to Ladies Day at the Grand National horse race in Aintree. The salon offers non-invasive treatments like body contouring as well as injectables.

“…on Beauty Blowout, makeovers are only the beginning as we hear why clients want a body treatment, watch what’s being done in the salon and then follow them out wherever they’re headed to celebrate their new look,” said executive producer Duncan Gray, who founded production company Twenty Six 03 Content, which has been commissioned for the docuseries under Twenty Six 03 Entertainment, its joint venture with Cineflix Media.

Air dates are yet to be announced for both programmes.
