The first-ever Africa Wellness Summit will take place next month, with organisers confirming the full speaker programme for the two-day virtual event.
Hosted by the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), the summit will run from October 11–12, 2025.
Under the theme “The Cradle of Wellness Remembered”, it aims to highlight Africa’s contributions to global wellness, from indigenous healing traditions to contemporary spa and skincare innovations.
Organiser Kent Richards, former Six Senses director who now runs consultancy Wellness World Global, said the line-up reflects a mix of traditional practitioners, entrepreneurs and international brands.
“Africa is not new to wellness. Since the birth of mankind, Africa has led wellness in many ways and we are here to shine the light on their progress,” he added.
Diverse mix of speakers
Confirmed speakers include author and healer Jaiya John, raw food pioneer Aris LaTham, and Valerie Obaze, founder of R&R Skincare.
They will be joined by African elders, spiritual healers, local government officials and representatives from global brands such as Hilton.
The Africa Wellness Summit programme features panel discussions on indigenous wellness knowledge, the use of African botanicals in beauty products, and opportunities for ethical sourcing and local economic development.
Sessions will also explore how African traditions around movement, food and spiritual wellbeing are influencing mainstream wellness trends.
Global audience
The summit forms part of a wider GWI initiative to elevate African voices in the global wellness economy, which has historically been dominated by Europe and North America.
The event will be held online and is open to international delegates from across the spa, beauty and wellness sectors. Recordings will be made available after the event.
