7% growth for the global health and wellness industry

The global health and wellness products industry grew by 7% between 2012 and 2013 and is now estimated at US$52billion (£33bn), according to figures from Euromonitor International.
Sales of FF (fortified/functional) milk formula, FF energy drinks and probiotic yogurt recorded the most significant growth, while general wellbeing, which generated US$450million (£282m) worth of sales, weight management, digestive health, energy boosting and endurance are the core health and wellness categories.
The fastest-growing categories are energy boosting, which grew 13% year-on-year between 2012 and 2013, food intolerance, general wellbeing, digestive health and beauty from within. The top five countries for health and wellness product sales are China, the US, Brazil, Russia and Mexico.
