Q&A with  Anne Biging

Founder and Managing Director, Healing Hotels of the World Anne Biging will be speaking at the Professional Spa & Wellness Convention 2015

speaker

1. What have been the most important spa industry developments in the past few years?

The most important development of the past years was the development from spa and wellness to health and wellbeing. It will become most crucial for hotels with spa and wellness facilities to go one step further and to have holistic health offers. The guests do not only want to relax but they want to improve their wellbeing and health and learn how to live a happy, healthy life. Holistic health also means that the mental component is essential. This is the reason why it is important to learn how to deal with the mind e.g. through coaching, mindfulness and meditation.

2. Which are the most pressing issues currently facing the spa & wellness industry?

The most pressing issue is how to implement holistic health.

It takes a high degree of competence to offer holistic health to the guests as it only works if the offer is serious and wholehearted. In this context nutrition is playing a major part. It will become paramount that hotels offer healthy food. The time will be over where people in their holidays want to get spoiled with food but they will want to loose weight and get fitter through healthy nutrition. They will want to learn how to keep a healthy diet when they are back home.

3. What industry changes would you like to see in 2015?

A stronger focus on mental/spiritual practices. Wellbeing has a lot to do of how we understand life, our attitude and purpose.

4. Why industry event such as PSW Convention are so important?

These event s are very important to learn, get new ideas and perspectives, gain new enthusiasm and passion and to get to know the people of the industry.

5. What would you like the audience to take away from your session?

To learn about the importance to offer holistic health solutions to the clients because this is the only way to achieve sustainable beauty, wellbeing, health and happiness.

6. Which sessions are you most looking forward at this year convention?

Besides our own session I am looking very much forward to: Emotional Engagement Creating a culture of outstanding guest service.  Breaking down barriers in communication between nationalities. As at Healing Hotels of the World we are dealing with our industry partners and clients from all over the world.
