Cancer Aware Directory opens for spa and therapist registration
Spas, salons and therapists that offer treatments for people touched by cancer can now sign up to an international online directory that allows consumers to find them.
Cancer Aware Directory is a not-for-profit initiative that will offer a free listing to any business or individual, anywhere in the world, that treats cancer patients and has a qualification to do so, from an accredited training provider.
The project is being developed by the Professional Beauty Group in consultation with cancer-specialist training providers including Julie Bach, executive director of Wellness for Cancer.
The directory has been launched with the support of senior spa figures from major global hotel groups, including Anna Bjurstam, senior strategic adviser for Six Senses; Mia Kyricos, global head of wellbeing at Hyatt Hotels; and Jeremy McCarthy, group director of spa and wellness at Mandarin Oriental.
Sign up to Cancer Aware Directory now.
“This is important” said Anna Bjurstam, “because this means that people that have been unfortunately touched by cancer can find a practice and practitioner to help them.” The customer directory will be the first of its kind to highlight wellness businesses that have undertaken specialist training to accommodate the needs of this important customer segment.
Corrina Yap, director at Como Metropolitan London, explained how this resource is vital, adding, “As a recent cancer survivor, I had great doctors and many contacts in the wellness arena, but I felt completely overwhelmed, lost and alone. To have had a directory of qualified establishments and practitioners where one can easily find different modalities and details of what is on offer would have made my journey so much smoother.”
The Cancer Aware Directory is now open for registrations from all cancer therapy trained spas, salons, wellness centres and individuals.
