Back Beauty campaign encourages clients to support salons during Covid-19 lockdown 2.0

Skincare expert Caroline Hirons has launched new campaign Back Beauty to help the beauty industry stay afloat during the second coronavirus lockdown, which has drastically hit the income of small businesses across the UK.

Back Beauty, the sister campaign to Hirons successful Beauty Backed initiative, is encouraging the public to support their local salons, spas and mobile/home-based therapists by booking future appointments, buying gift vouchers for friends and family, and purchasing skincare products online or via telephone sales.

These are simple yet practical ways to keep the industry going so they can reopen their doors after Covid-19 lockdown 2.0 – England and Northern Ireland are still in lockdown, while Wales “firebreak” lockdown ended on November 9.

November and December are traditionally the busiest time of the year for the beauty industry, with around a third of a business’ annual turnover taken in the last three months of a year, says the British Beauty Council.

“We want the beauty industry to survive this second hit to their income,” said Hirons. “They need our help to stay afloat while they once again cannot work, and to be able to reopen when this second lockdown is over.

“Let’s protect the beauty industry we all know and love. Let’s continue to back beauty.”

Earlier this year, Hirons launched the Beauty Backed campaign, a fundraising initiative in partnership with The Hair & Beauty Charity which raised nearly £600,000 worth of financial aid to support beauty businesses that were struggling.

The Hair & Beauty Charity said on Hirons Instagram post: "This is just such a great, supportive initiative and will mean so much once again. Thank you for all you and Beauty Backed are doing for our industry."
