Clown and skeleton among most searched for Halloween make-up videos on TikTok

With the spookiest time of the year just around the corner, searches for “Halloween make-up” on social media platform TikTok have soared 300% between the third and fourth week of October as users search for dress up inspiration.

Iconic characters from horror films and Disney classics, as well as superheroes and villains, have topped the platform’s list of the most searched for Halloween make-up looks of 2021, according to research from Parisian Fashion. 

Halloween classics like clowns and skeletons topped the list of the most searched for make-up looks this year, with 978,200,000 and 26,400,000 searches respectively on the platform, the report found. 

The most viewed clown make-up look, Jordyn Shea’s UV creation, has been liked more than 1.1 million times, while Demi Ngai’s rainbow skeleton look has reached more than 11.6 million views. 

Other timeless scary and creepy Halloween looks such as the devil, witches and vampires also made the top 15, with #devilmakeup reaching 53.3 million views at the time of writing.

TikTok make-up artist @makeup.lois created a nocturnal witch inspired look, with more than 9.3 million views, while Holly Murray’s Annabelle inspired look, modelled after the doll from the 2014 film, is the most liked video under the #annabellemakeup, amounting more than 3.4 million likes.

Murray said: “It’s blown my mind that my video is the most-liked in the hashtag… It’s great to know there are so many people out there watching my content.
