Dog-friendly beauty salon The Candy Rooms opens in Scotland

Scotland’s first-ever beauty salon that pampers dogs and their owners has opened. The Candy Rooms in Glasgow, run by Johnny Palmer, offers five-star treatments for pet owners and their pooches.
Owners can have their hair and make-up done, enjoy a massage or get their nails done, while their pet is shampooed and groomed before enjoying a bowl of pawsecco or dog beer. Massages for dogs in need of muscle therapy will also be launching soon.
Palmer told The Sun: “I thought it would be a great idea to have somewhere the whole family including our pet dog Zara could come and get pampered together.
“It’s Glasgow’s first pamper parlour for parents, princesses and pooches, and the first of its kind in Scotland.”
A team of make-up artists, hair specialists and a dog groomer work in the salon, which includes a beauty, hair and nail room, as well as a luxury dog grooming area.
Palmer added: “Puppies can come in for an intro to get them used to a groomer. They can come in and start with a bath and a wee trim or they can come and get the full groom.”
The salon is also going to offer birthday cakes for pooches made with dog-friendly ingredients.
Specialist beauty salons are popping all the time. The UK’s first gin-themed nail parlour has opened in Nottingham while US-themed kids-only salon Kandy Girl has launched in Birmingham.
