E.A.T.O.W launches its first Make-Up Artist of the Year Awards

The first E.A.T.O.W (Embracing All Tones of Women) Make-Up Artist of the Year Awards are taking place this year to raise the profile of women of colour working in the make-up industry.
E.A.T.O.W founder Eryca Freemantle has developed the awards to highlight and showcase the work of women of colour in the make-up industry, as well as transform someone’s make-up career and gain them global recognition from top beauty industry leaders.
The awards will be online (for the most part) and will be assignment-based to “create a level playing field for all who become members of this unique community,” said Freemantle.
Judges for the awards include founder and chief executive of the MOBO Awards Kanya King; hairdresser and Dyson ambassador Errol Douglas; photographer Sean Whitty; UK education/artistry manager at Pat McGrath Labs Adeola Gboyega; founder of Makeup Addiction Djembi Djevdet; journalist Ateh Jewel; and broadcaster Afua Adom.
The final will be held in June at Errol Douglas Hair Studio in Knightsbridge, London, and will be streamed to two million viewers across Africa.
"I realised those starting out in their careers as MUAs needed additional help to find their way and need to be celebrated too,” added Freemantle.
“With our growing E.A.T.O.W. platform, the wealth of knowledge and education we continue to gather is huge and will become vital to the business success of those in this field. We want to celebrate MUAs on how they adapt to changes in the industry and run their businesses, as well as their creative talent."
