LCBT brings University of Derby’s spa management degree to London
The London College of Beauty Therapy has partnered with the University of Derby to offer its International Spa Management Foundation degree at its London premises.
In September this year the first cohort of students will begin the course at LCBT’s central London site, where they will also have access to the college’s employer and industry link network for work opportunities in the UK and abroad.
The University of Derby, with onsite Devonshire Spa that was named Professional Beauty’s Day Spa of the Year 2016, was the first in the country to offer spa and wellness management degrees. The International Spa Management Foundation degree teaches the theoretical knowledge; technical skills and professional attitudes students need to thrive in spa and wellness management roles.
Modules include treatments and therapies, business strategy and managing people.
Established over 20 years ago, LCBT runs courses in beauty, nails, make-up, hairdressing and fitness.
LCBT chief executive Christianne C. de Moncayo commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with the University of Derby. The beauty industry is growing at such a fast pace and more and more employers are in need of excellent therapists and managers to be able to grow their business.
“With the ability to study in London, LCBT also opens the possibility for our existing student therapists to be able to progress in to higher education, opening opportunities and raising aspirations, which is at the heart of LCBTs mantra.”
