QHotels to update its spas as part of £50m investment
Q Hotels has outlined plans to invest £50 million across its 28 UK hotel sites, with many of its spas being refurbished in the process.
The investment reflects the group’s vision to position its sites as luxury spa destinations and to create a more fluid journey for guests, updating everything from the facilities, treatment rooms and hotel bedrooms to the wi-fi.
Two of the biggest projects to be announced this year are Belton Woods in Lincolnshire and Westerwood Hotel and Golf Resort in Glasgow. Claire Rowland, director of marketing at QHotels, told Professional Beauty that the next hotels in line for investment in 2016 would be Oxford Belfry, Cambridge Belfry, Ashford International in Kent, and Norton Park in Winchester.
“Spa has grown exponentially for us over the past two years with double-digit growth. The demand is there and we have to respond to it,” added Rowland. “The investment is our way of improving our facilities as well as increasing the capacity of guests we can take on.”
The level of investment at each hotel will depend on the needs of the individual business, but every location will be touched in some way.
The group is spending £350,000 on refurbishing its Belton Woods spa facilities, including an extension of the six existing treatment rooms to eight, a new relaxation suite, dedicated spa reception area and a spa café.
QHotels is also investing £500,000 into Westerwood to improve its spa and leisure facilities. The development will include three new treatment rooms, an expanded relaxation area, a rasul, pop-up restaurant for spa guests and the recruitment of at least 10 new staff. Both spas are due to reopen in August.
