Spa trends: Brit pack leads the way

Spafinder Wellness has unveiled its predictions of the spa trends that will be hot for 2015, and while some were slightly off the wall (cannabis spas, anyone?) others looked pretty familiar to us at Professional Beauty.
We make a habit of keeping our ears to the ground so we can predict what the next big thing will be for the salon and spa industries. With the news last year that the likes of Urban Retreat and Spa Illuminata would be opening new facilities centred around the Middle Eastern traditions of social bathing, we were all set for this to have a wider impact. So it came as no surprise that Spafinder named “Islamic wellness traditions” in its top ten lost.
While we’d love to think that this down to our powers of perception and our ability to keep our fingers on the pulse of the industry, we know that in reality it’s down to you guys leading the way in the global market.
Here are just some of the UK spas ahead of the curve with the hot new trends:
Trend: “Forest bathing”
Where: Aqua Sana at Centre Parcs
By their nature, the forest-set Centre Parcs camps are well placed to capitalise on this trend. Two sites, Elveden Forest to the east of London and the recently opened Woburn Forest, offer guests breaks in a luxury spa suite, which have direct entry into the spa as well as forest-facing private balconies to help clients get closer to nature
Trend: “Gut reactions”
Where: Grayshott Health Spa
The Surrey-based destination spa launched its 7-day Health programme back in 2013, which is centred on the philosophy that if your gut isn’t working properly, nothing else will either. The programme includes health and nutritional consultations with a blood analysis, a rigorous nutrition programme cutting out sugar, caffeine, and alcohol, plus abdominal massage, and castor oil compresses
Trend: “Islamic wellness traditions”
Where: Urban Retreat
Urban Retreat’s hotly anticipated new hammam finally opened its doors this month, offering Moroccan-inspired treatments with a supreme luxe twist. The facility is women only, with a warm area and a hot room with heated beds that affords clients a bit of privacy.
