Guest blog: How to create an on-trend make-up look for summer

This week’s guest blogger, celebrity MUA and founder of Delilah make-up Rupert Kingston, shares his tips for creating this season’s stand-out looks

That “no make-up make-up” look is fabulous. To create that, start by using a primer all over the face, as this will create the perfect base and will keep everything looking natural. I use Delilah Underwear Foundation Primer. Then apply your foundation – I use Time Frame Foundation with the Kabuki Buffing Brush from the Delilah collection. Using a brush will keep your foundation looking very light and polished. Touch up darkness under the eyes and any imperfections with concealer.

For an amazing bronze glow, sweep a little bronzer over the forehead, along the tops of the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose and tip of the chin. Blend really well with a large brush. Finish the skin by using a peach toned blusher on the apples of the cheek, which is great for achieving that summer glow – I use Delilah’s Colour Blush in Clementine. Complement this with a matching peach lip gloss.

For this summer’s unexpected trend for smokey eyes, first create a base with a midtone shade – I suggest something like Delilah’s Colour Intense Eye Shadow in pewter. Apply this to the moving part of the eyelid, then using a brush blend and soften the shadow by running the brush along the lash line. Next, use a jet black shade such as Delilah’s liquorice and apply to the outside corners of the eyes and sweep along the lash line into the eye sockets. Sweep a little under the lower lashes too, and gradually build up, continuing to blend until you achieve the desired effect. If your client likes a more intense look, apply a dark eyeliner along the upper and lower lash lines. Finish the look with mascara.
