Beauty therapist wins gold in EuroSkills Finals

Holly-Mae Cottrell, a therapist at Reds Hair Company in Ross-on-Wye, won a gold medal at the EuroSkills finals in Budapest.
The beauty therapist was joined by 22 others from the UK in different trades who travelled to Hungary to compete in the European Championships on September 26–28.
EuroSkills is the European Championships for young professionals and is the regional version of the World Skills Competitions, otherwise known as the Skills Olympics.
Each country enters one competitor or team per trade in a hope to win the title of most talented young skilled professional in each division.
Other successes by Team UK included a bronze medal in mechatronics, mechanical engineering and hairdressing and medallions in seven other areas including welding and florestry.
“This is a fantastic result for Team UK and the country as a whole. We were gunning for a top ten position and we got it!These brilliant young people – training and preparing them to be among the very best across Europe -are the UK’s new generation of high flyers,” said Neil Bentley, chief executive of World Skills UK.
Professional Beauty North will host make-up, nail and lash competitions in October to find the best beauty technicians in the UK. If you think you have what it takes click here.
