In the kit... with Emily Scullion
Having entered the beauty industry working at Staffordshire's Hoar Cross Hall in 2001, Emily Scullion, the Professional Beauty Awards' Mobile/Home-Based Salon of the Year 2022 winner, has trained in over 11 product houses and a number of disciplines, from nails to massage.
With over two decades' worth of product knowledge, the beauty therapist has played with a range of products and brands to find her favourites, even going as far as creating her own products to ensure the perfect formulas. These are her five favourites...
Advanced Nutrition Programme Skin Ultimate

Packed in convenient, tear-off beauty pods for individuals with a high-performance, on-the-go lifestyle, this daily dose system of five clever capsules from the ANP range: Skin Omegas+, Skin Vit A+, Skin Asta-Boost, Skin Co-Q10+ and Skin Antioxidant, combine to help support the appearance of beautiful and glowing skin, hair, and nails from within for the ultimate radiance this festive season.
Scullion is such a fan of these powerful supplements she uses them herself, sharing, "Supplements can overpromise and underdeliver, but these daily capsules have completely transformed my skin and now I can’t be without them!
"They act like internal skincare to help maximise the results of your topical skincare, supporting skin cells from the inside out. You won’t just see an improvement in the skin on your face - they have made a huge difference to clients with back acne, for example, where other topical products have failed. They are such a worthwhile investment, I don’t have a single client whose tried them that isn’t hooked."
Albus and Flora Multi Active Balm SPF 30

Formulated with alpine rose extract from the Swiss Alps and cranberry and raspberry seed oil from the Arctic to protect against sun damage, fine lines and loss of lip fullness, this nourishing lip balm helps to lift away dead skin sells and support skin barrier function.
Explaining the importance of SPF protection, Scullion says, "Many of my clients still don’t know they also need to protect their lips from UVA and UVB, being one of the first areas to show signs of ageing with fine lines and loss of lip fullness."
As well as for hydration, Scullion uses the balms to exfoliate, explaining, "I just apply a thick layer and then exfoliate with a muslin cloth for instantly smooth, soft and plump lips."
Navy Cuticle Balm

Cuticle care is key when it comes to maintaining your manicure, encouraging nail growth and generally keeping your nails healthy.
Enriched with rosehip oil, aloe vera extract and coconut oil, this gently scented formula from Navy Professional can be used on gel manicures without risk of lifting or dullness.
"It’s highly concentrated, so you only need a tiny amount to see the benefits, which means it lasts ages and is great value," shares Scullion.
"I’ve converted so many clients and they all say it helps their manicures last longer, too."
The Brick House Beauty CBD and Rose Nourishing Oil
Scullion began working on her own products in lockdown, when she had time to reflect on what she felt was missing from her kit and from her own bathroom shelf. The first product, a facial oil, contains a blend of six plant-based superfoods that help reduce the appearance of fine lines whilst increasing moisture levels resulting in hydrated, radiant skin.
"Although I developed the CBD and Rose Face Oil with me in mind, I also wanted it to work for my clients with other skin types and concerns at a price they could afford to repurchase," she shares.
"It's packed it full of anti-inflammatory fatty acids, vitamins A and C, and six plant-based super foods, so not only does it feel delicious on the skin but it actively calms breakouts, reduces scarring, increases moisture retention and helps the appearance of fine lines. It really is a powerhouse product and I’m very proud of it - gratifyingly, my clients agree with me!"
Spacemasks Self-Heating Eye Masks

Scullion uses these eye masks, which are infused with jasmine, to help clients relax during massage treatments.
"The masks have just enough fragrance to make an impact while still being suitable for sensitive skin and eyes," shares Scullion, adding, "They gently heat once on, creating the feeling of a soft, warm compress that instantly eases away tensions and calms anxieties.
"I love to use these on clients during massage treatments to help them relax quickly and deeply, really making the most of their experience and adding an extra touch of indulgent but much-deserved luxury. Brilliant for headaches and easing eye strain, they are also my answer to a good night’s sleep - even with a four-year-old!"
