Christmas shopping sees retail sales in beauty salons soar 107%

December has seen retail sales in beauty salons across the country soar, bringing in 107% more total retail revenue than the rest of the year, according to new data from Phorest Salon Software.
Analysing the figures of more than 6,000 salons, beauty businesses make more than 10% of their annual revenue in December alone. Although treatments bring in an additional 13% in revenue during the month compared to the average for the other 11 months of the year, it’s retail sales that are the main revenue driver this time of year.
A 28% boost in the number of products sold has brought in 27% more product revenue, on average, while a 450% total jump in gift card sales has brought 508% more gift card revenue than the rest of the year, the data shows.
“It’s no wonder salon owners, managers, therapists and everyone else who makes a salon run like clockwork are completely exhausted by the time New Year rolls around, cramming 12% more completed services into the busy month compared to the rest of the year, with 9% more clients walking through their doors,” said Ronan Perceval, chief executive of Phorest Salon Software.
You’ll never guess the date beauty businesses take the most Christmas salon bookings on or the number of times a loyal customer will visit you during the year.
