10 of the best beauty moments from Coachella
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival returned to Indio, California, on April 15 for a weekend of music, culture, fashion, and, of course, beauty moments making us wish we were there.
The three-day festival, which occurs twice on consecutive weekends, marks the beginning of festival season, setting the tone for the make-up and fashion trends that will be worn at festivals across the world over the coming summer.
Here’s our 10 favourite make-up moments from the first weekend of the festival.
Under-eyeliner looks
-
Hailey Bieber
Hailey Bieber sported a blue under-eyeliner to watch husband Justin Bieber perform at the festival.
Bieber opted for a smudged blue on her lower lash line, blended out to meet her soft winged liner for a pop of colour to compliment her otherwise natural make-up look, by MUA Leah Darcy.
-
Jhené Aiko
Like Bieber, singer Jhené Aiko also went for a bold undereye look for the festival.
Aiko wore a bolder version of the under-eye look, using a bright metallic purple shade underneath her eye, with a black over exaggerated cat eye effect on her eyelid and inner corner.
The under-eye liner look is perfect for clients who want a pop of colour without a heavy eyeshadow and can feature complimentary colours to really bring out the colour of your clients’ eyes.
Neon nights
-
Cinzia Baylis Zullo
For her day one outfit, the British YouTuber committed to neon from head-to-toe, finishing the look with a pop of pink.
The neon eyeliner added a fun element to her fresh-faced make-up, making the bold colour stand out even more.
-
Kim Petras
The German singer said no to adding a pop of neon, choosing to make it the standout feature of her entire look.
Starting with a neon yellow eye look, Petras took it one step further by creating a mask-effect with the pigment, even taking it into her hair.
While it’s not a look for everyday wear, the make-up was a great contrast to her plain black outfit and creates a stunning contrast against the desert backdrop at the festival.
Meet your match
-
Megan Thee Stallion
The rapper matched her make-up to her cotton-candy coloured hair for her first time at the festival.
Megan Thee Stallion took the pink tone from her wig for the bulk of her eye look, adding a smoky wing and using the blue to highlight her inner corner to create a cohesive look.
Diamanté dots
One of the biggest trends of the year, thanks to TV show Euphoria and the rise in Y2K inspired looks, gemstone and diamanté details are making a huge comeback – just in time for festival season.
-
Becky G
Becky G showed her love for the festival with a tiny love heart gem on her cheek.
The singer placed a red heart on her cheekbone for a bit of added bling, confirming that Y2K diamanté details are set to trends for SS22. Check out our other trend predictions here.
-
Ginevra Mavilla
Blogger and influencer Ginevra Mavilla used tiny multicoloured circular diamantés to add some sparkle to her shimmery silver eye look.
The influencer used the blue, pink and silver gems to create an exaggerated winger out effect, perfect for catching the light of the Californian sun.
-
Nicole Scherzinger
The former Pussycat Doll ensured everyone was making eye contact by strategically placing a single gem under the centre of her eye.
Drawing from the four dots TikTok trend from earlier this year, meant to draw attention to the eyes and form connections, the gem is the perfect festival play on the trend.
-
Vanessa Hudgens
It would be criminal to talk about looks from the festival without including the Queen of Coachella, actress Vanessa Hudgens.
The ‘Chella veteran also took inspiration from the TikTok trend, with a single gem under her eye, adding a row six above her crease, following the natural shape of her eye.
Flower Power
11. Lili Reinhart
Riverdale star Lili Reinhart went back to Coachella’s hippy-inspired roots with her floral bohemian eye look.
The actress had tiny white flowers painted above the crease of her eyelid, with a matching white winged liner for a dainty festival make-up moment.
